Valentin Kihn

Valentin Kihn (born January 9, 1822 in Michelbach ; † April 13, 1901 there ) was a German politician ( Patriot Party ), mill owner and initiator of the construction of the Kahl – Schöllkrippen railway line .

Life

Valentin Kihn was one of eleven children of Johannes and Anna Maria Kihn (nee Stenger). His cradle was in the bridge mill in Michelbach, which he bought from his father when he was 25. After his application and the subsequent concession from the royal district court in Alzenau , he bought all the other mills in Michelbach in 1848 and created the company "Mühlenwerke Valentin Kihn". He built the Kihn mill into the most efficient mill in Lower Franconia. Valentin Kihn was married to Elisabeth, née Schneider, from Somborn and had six children with her. One of them was Karl Kihn , who later got the nickname “Spessartvater”.

From May 2, 1876, Valentin Kihn had a seat in the Chamber of Deputies in the state parliament of the Kingdom of Bavaria for two legislative periods as a member of the Patriot Party . He succeeded the resigned Franz Mehling in the district of Aschaffenburg . Valentin Kihn recognized the economic and social needs of the population in the Spessart and campaigned emphatically for the development of the area by improving traffic conditions. The Kahlgrundbahn owes its creation to him. Valentin Kihn died at the age of 79. His successor in the company was Franz Xaver Köhl.
