Valentin Putanec
Valentin Putanec (born October 2, 1917 in Krašić ; † January 6, 2004 in Zagreb ) was a Croatian Romanist , Slavonic scholar and lexicographer.
life and work
Putanec received his doctorate in 1950 from the University of Zagreb under Petar Skok with the thesis Francuska leksikografija na hrvatskom ili srpskom i slovenskom jeziku do 1914 g. see bibliografijom francuske leksikografije na hrvatskom ili srpskom i slovenskom jeziku 1603-1950 (Zagreb 1952). He was the most important employee of the ERHSJ (Etymological Dictionary of Serbo-Croatian) of his teacher, emerged with a successful Franco-Serbo-Croatian dictionary and published numerous works on Serbo-Croatian.
