Life

Born as the son of Senator Christoph von Greißing, he attended high school in his hometown. On April 7, 1674 he enrolled at the University of Wittenberg , where he acquired the degree of master's degree on April 27, 1676 , on April 12, 1677 he became an adjunct at the philosophical faculty, gave lectures and then took up a position as a teacher at the grammar school in Szczecin .

On April 12, 1679, he returned to his homeland, where on July 7, 1684 he was rector of the Honterus-Gymnasium in Kronstadt. There he held lectures on a wide variety of topics for high school students. In addition to theological questions, he dealt with metaphysics and Hebrew grammar. He also wrote textbooks that were used and printed in Transylvania until the 18th century.

Despite adverse difficulties, he tried to use all his energy for his students, as his former student and later professor at the University of Halle Martin Schmeitzel mentioned in his speech of thanks on the death of Greißing. Valentin von Greißing embarked on a theological career despite his pedagogical commitment. On November 11, 1694 he became a pastor in Rosenau until he suddenly died in September 1701 of Schlagfluss in his native town.
