Valentina (* 281 ; † March 18, 317 ) was a saint , virgin and martyr who, according to tradition, lived in the 4th century.

It came from the city of Caesarea in the Palestine region, founded at the time of Roman rule . Valentina vowed virginity for Christ's sake and was sentenced to death and beheaded for her Christianity. The date of her death appears from a plaque that, according to tradition, was found on her grave. However, the persecution of Christians by the state had already ended by this time.

1702 gave Pope Clement XI. the relics of St. Valentina to Countess Katharina Eleonora Lamberg, who brought them to the Austrian town of Drosendorf in the Waldviertel , where they are kept in the Martinskirche . The Valentina Festival has been held there every year since 1999 .

Valentina in Drosendorf is a so-called catacomb saint . The memorial Valentinas is 25. July .
