Valentina Ivanov (born March 27, 2001 in Christchurch ) is a New Zealand tennis player .

Career

In 2018 Ivanov competed in the junior doubles at the Australian Open , but failed with her partner in the round of 16. In October of that year she competed in singles, doubles and mixed at the Summer Youth Olympic Games and failed in all three disciplines in the first round. In December 2018 Ivanov became New Zealand national champion and secured a wildcard for the ASB Classic in January 2019.

Ivanov played her first WTA tournament in January 2019 and received a wildcard not only for qualifying in singles, but also with her partner Elys Ventura for the main draw in doubles. Although she failed in doubles in the first round, created a small sensation with her 4: 6, 6: 3 and 6: 3 victory over her compatriot Paige Mary Hourigan in the first round of qualification. In the second round of qualification, however, she failed to Bibiane Schoofs with 4: 6 and 0: 6.

Valentina Ivanov is the daughter of Sergej Ivanov , who was formerly the team principal of the Uzbek Fed Cup team , and Oksana Yarikova , who was a Fed Cup player for Uzbekistan in 1995 and 1997.
