Valeriu Călinoiu (born October 9, 1928 in Bucharest , † December 20, 1990 ) was a Romanian football player . He played 167 games in the highest Romanian football league, Divizia A , and took part in the 1952 Olympic Games .

Career

Călinoiu began playing football in his hometown of Bucharest, first with Olympia , later with Carmen Bucharest , before the game had to be interrupted by the outbreak of World War II. After the war he joined the first IMS Hunedoara , but returned in 1948 to Bucharest back and played for Petrolul Bucharest in the highest Romanian league, the Divizia A . There he came to his first assignment on May 29, 1949. After the season Calinoiu joined Dinamo Braşov in the Divizia B .

In Brașov, Călinoiu contributed to the fact that the club rose to Divizia A. Before the beginning of the 1950 season, he moved back to the capital to Dinamo Bucharest . With Dinamo he was able to win a championship title and a cup victory until his career was over in 1960 .

National team

Călinoiu played a total of 21 games for the Romanian national football team between 1952 and 1959 and scored one goal. He made his debut on July 15, 1952 at the Olympic Games in Helsinki against the eventual Olympic champion Hungary .
