Valeriu Georgescu

Valeriu Georgescu (* 1947 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian trade union official and diplomat in retirement .

From 1955 to 1957 he was chairman of the Central Committee of the Union of Finance Workers and the People's Councils. From 1960 to 1966 he was a member of the Central Council of Romanian Trade Unions. In February 1966 he entered the foreign service and was appointed envoy extraordinary and ministre plénipotentiaire in Tel Aviv , where he was appointed first ambassador in August 1969 and stayed until 1971. He was then employed in a leading position in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1973 to October 1981 he was ambassador in Conakry ( Guinea ) and at the same time accredited in Freetown ( Sierra Leone ) and from 1974 in Bamako ( Mali ) and Guinea-Bissau , from April 1976 in Praia ( Cape Verde ).

From 1984 to 1988 he was ambassador to Jakarta , at the same time he was accredited in Kuala Lumpur ( Malaysia ) from November 1985 and in Singapore from February 1986 .
