Valo & Ville is a film developed in 2005. It uses Charles Dickens ' literary style and is based on true diary entries of a child.
action
When Valo and his father and others revolt against the tsar , they are exiled to a rural village for two years . There they are closely watched, especially by Nikolai, who is a kind of superintendent. The situation in the village is tense and partly marked by poverty. The children have no rights and are oppressed, his new friend Ville is beaten by his father.
One day a new teacher shows up. She represents liberal ideas and graciously teaches the children new knowledge. She uses the forbidden Finnish language.
A short time later, Nikolai becomes aware of the unfamiliar class and has the teacher arrested. But Valo and Julia then take the initiative and set up their own school. Many more children join them and learn to read. Valo is also there, who has never attended school before. The children slowly realize that they do not have to tolerate their oppressed situation.
Nikolai later discovers the school and has it closed because the law does not allow the children to do so. Nevertheless, the children secretly continue with their lessons. But since Ville does not comply with Nikolai's request to stop teaching and learning, he is locked in a prison camp for children.
Then it comes to the court date. Nikolai justified the arrest with the fact that Valo had taught the children disobedience and rebellion and led them to "false nonsense".
The harsh sentence was almost carried out when Ville gave a convincing speech. The judge is so impressed that he releases Valo and wants to investigate the conditions of the prison camp. Nikolai is dismissed from office after an outburst and the children can go back to school.
