Van Lennep (noble and patrician family)
Van Lennep is the name of a patrician and aristocratic family from the Netherlands that still exists today .
history
The family came from an illegitimate son of the noblemen of Linnep an der Ruhr zu Schloss Linnep in the Linnep domain .
The Van Lennep family ran a brewery and a goldsmith's in Arnhem . At the beginning of the 17th century the family moved to Amsterdam ; another branch went to Haarlem and became a member of the patriciate there. At the end of the 18th century, the Van Lenneps also performed government duties in Amsterdam (see Regent of Amsterdam ). In 1813 the family was elevated to French barons by Emperor Napoleon . The family was first introduced to the Dutch nobility in 1822.
