The orchid Vanda concolor is an epiphytic growing plant from Southeast Asia. It is occasionally used as an ornamental plant.
description
Vanda concolor grows as a monopodial epiphyte . The shoot reaches a length of 4 to 13 cm with a diameter of 0.4 to 1 cm. The leathery leaves are arranged in two rows and are 15 to 30 cm long and 1 to 3 cm wide. The tip is asymmetrically bilobed.
In April to May, one or two inflorescences appear each from a leaf axil. The inflorescence axis is 11 to 17 cm long, four to eight flowers are in the front half. The oval bracts are 3 to 5 mm long and 2 to 3 mm wide, they end pointed. The flower stalk and ovary are white and measure 2 to 4.5 cm. The fragrant flowers are fleshy, white on the outside, yellow to brown on the inside, they open wide, their diameter is 3 to 4 cm. The sepals are oblong, inverted-egg-shaped, 1.6 to 2 cm long and 0.6 to 1.2 cm wide, abruptly narrowed (nailed) at the base for a short distance, the edges slightly wavy. The petals are similarly shaped, but slightly smaller. The lip has a white, cylindrical, slightly pointed spur at the base. The side lobes of the three-lobed lip stand upright and are white with reddish dots. The end of the middle lobe is bilobed. The five or six keels running along the lip are covered with papillae. The white column is 0.6 to 0.7 cm long with a yellow stamen .
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 38 or 2n = 76.
