Vanessa Beecroft (born April 25, 1969 in Genoa ) is an Italian performance artist .

life and career

Vanessa Beecroft was born in 1969 in the Ligurian port city of Genoa as the daughter of a Briton and an Italian. From 1983 to 1987 she studied architecture in Genoa and from 1988 to 1993 stage design at the Brera in Milan . Since 1994 she has been presenting room productions around the world with partially nude, stylized female and male models as tableaus. In contrast to the classical performance , the artist is not directly involved, but acts as a director in the background. Vanessa Beecroft lives on Long Island in the US state of New York .

Spencer Tunick makes similar body sculptures , but he only works with amateurs and mostly in free space.

She has two sons from her marriage to Greg Durkin.
