Vangelis Pavlidis (* 1943 ) ( Greek Βαγγέλης Παυλίδης ) is a Greek political cartoonist who works for the Greek daily To Vima .

Pavlidis studied graphics in Athens and began drawing cartoons for the Athens daily To Vima and later for Eleftherotypia in 1971 . International newspapers reprinted his political cartoons several times. In a 1976 Bulgarian survey, he was named one of the 100 best contemporary cartoonists. The Pinakothek Basel and the House of Humors and Satire in Gabrovo, as well as other private collections, have bought works by Pavlidis. He has published four volumes of drawings and has been illustrating mainly children's books since 1983, including his fairy tale stories from the lighthouse in 1988 . Pavlidis now lives in Lachania on Rhodes .

Honors

  • In 1990 Pavlidis was selected together with 49 other artists for the exhibition Caricature - European Contemporary Artists at the Wilhelm Busch Museum , Hanover .
  • In 1994 Pavlidis was included in the Honor List of the International Board of Trustees for Young People's Books ( IBBY ) at the suggestion of the Greek Children's Book Circle .
