The Varangerfjord ( Norwegian : Varangerfjorden ; Sami : Várjjatvuotna ) is a fjord in northernmost Northern Norway that flows into the Barents Sea in the Arctic Ocean . The fjord is around 90 kilometers long and 55 kilometers wide at the mouth. It extends to Vadsø in the north. In the outer part in the south, several fjords branch off, including the Bugøyfjord , the Kjøfjord , the Bøkfjord to Kirkenes and the Jarfjord . The Paatsjoki , one of the northernmost rivers in Europe, flows into the fjord in Kirkenes . On the northern bank, the European route 75 runs via Vardø to Vadsø ; in the inner part in the south the E6 leads to Kirkenes.
