Varrigsen is a village and southeastern district of the borough Delligsen in the district of Holzminden , Lower Saxony . The district is located in a valley between the Selter ridge and the Hils low mountain range and has about 270 inhabitants.

history

The first written mention of the place took place in 1317. The settlement was founded on an old long-distance trade route, the approximate course of which today follows the federal road 3 and which leads directly past Varrigsen.

In 1912, after a useful life of 345 years, the half-timbered chapel was demolished. Then a single-class school was built, which was used until 1963, with a prayer room as an extension.

For many years, Varrigsen belonged to the district of Gandersheim and was incorporated on March 1, 1974 as part of a regional reform with the previously independent municipality of Ammensen in the spots of Delligsen.

politics

The mayor is Hans-Werner Raabe (SPD).
