Kaierde is a village and southwestern district of the borough Delligsen in the district of Holzminden , Lower Saxony . The district is located in a valley in the Hils low mountain range and has about 920 inhabitants. The Wispe , a left tributary of the Leine, flows through Kaierde .

history

The place was first mentioned in a document in the 9th century. In the village there is a church with a fortified church tower, which is in parts around 1000 years old.

A cardboard box factory has been producing on the course of the Wispe since 1874 , which has operated under the Kaierde cardboard factory since the 1970s and is also the largest employer in Kaierde.

For many years Kaierde belonged to the district of Gandersheim and on April 1, 1974, in the course of a regional reform with the also independent communities Delligsen, Grünenplan and Hohenbüchen, became a district of the Delligsen area.
