Vasile Alexandru (born July 18, 1935 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian football player . He completed a total of 209 games in the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A .

Career

Vasile Alexandru started playing football in his hometown at SET Bucharest. In 1952 he moved to Dinamo Bucharest . There he first came out in the second team used that in Divizia B played. In order to collect match practice in the top division, Divizia A, Alexandru moved to Dinamo Bacau for the 1956 season . When he returned to Bucharest after a year, Alexandru made the leap to become a regular. In the following years he was able to win the Romanian championship and the Romanian cup once with Dinamo.

In the winter break of the 1962/63 season Alexandru left Dinamo and joined Dinamo Piteşti , who played in Divizia B at the time. After the immediate promotion, he was not used regularly in the 1963/64 season , so he moved to league rivals Știința Cluj during the winter break . It was there that Alexandru won the Romanian Cup in 1965 .

After Alexandru had lost his regular place at Universitatea Cluj (Știința had renamed itself in 1965) in the 1966/67 season , he moved to local rivals CFR Cluj in Divizia B. After promotion in 1969, he ended his career a year later.

National team

Alexandru played a total of eight games for the Romanian national football team between 1958 and 1965 , but scored no goal. He made his debut on October 26, 1958 against Hungary .
