Vasyl Lozynskyj ( Ukrainian Василь Михайлович Лозинський Wassyl Mychajlowytsch Losynskyj ;. Wiss transliteration Vasyl' Mychajlovyč Losyns'kyj * 1982 in Lwiw , Ukrainian SSR , USSR ) is a Ukrainian poet , translator , essayist and curator . He is part of the editorial team of the literary and art magazine prostory and a member of the curators' association Hudrada (German "Kunstrat"). He lives and works in Kiev .

Life

Vasyl Lozynskyj studied German in Lviv and Berlin. He has published two volumes of poetry in Ukrainian: the volume of poetry "Cвято після дебошу" in 2014 with the Indy publishing house NIICE (Kiev) and "Інша країна" in 2016 with Lotsia (Кiew). The volume of poetry "Fest nach dem Untergang" was published by Hochroth Verlag in German translation .

The texts and translations are in the magazines 10 TAL , manuskripte , OSTRAGEHEGE , Lichtungen , Wozduch , Trafika Europe , punctum , Wyspa , Hawai'i Review and in Prostory , Krytyka , SHO , Chetver , KORYDOR , Znak , Lystok in Ukraine. His poems have also appeared in the anthologies Grand Tour (2019) and the English-language New York Elegies (2019).

His poems have been translated into German, English, Polish, Russian, Swedish, Latvian, Greek and Turkish.

Works

The volume of poetry “Das Fest nach dem Untergang” was published in German by hochroth, Wiesenburg in 2016. A selection of poems was published in English translation under the title “The Maidan After Hours” in the USA (Hawai'i Review Chapbook Series, 2017) and in Polish translation as “Święto po awanturze” (PIW, 2019).

He translated u. a. Poems by Tadeusz Dąbrowski, Ron Winkler , Uljana Wolf , Monika Rinck, Peter Handke , Bohdan Zadura, Tadeusz Różewicz in Ukrainian. The translation of “Contemplation” by Franz Kafka was published as a facsimile edition by the publishing house “Osnovy” (2012). He also made translations of contemporary authors from German and Polish ("Black Square. Selected Poems." And "Means of Expression" by T. Dąbrowski, "Fragmented Waters" edited and translated by Ron Winkler).
