The Lord's Prayer Chapel in the Buchenbach district of Unteribental in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district is a Roman Catholic private chapel . It was created in 1967/68 by the publisher Theophil Herder-Dorneich and his wife Elisabeth born. Herder built according to his own idea. The plans were drawn up by the Karlsruhe architect Werner Groh. Liturgically it is under the jurisdiction of the parish of St. Blasius in Buchenbach.

The chapel was named " Monument of the Month December 2019" by the Monument Foundation Baden-Württemberg .

Architecture and equipment

The design idea of the chapel links the seven petitions of the Lord's Prayer with the six or seven days of creation and the four elements . Accordingly, it is designed as a hexagon with a flat tent roof , above which a high, hexagonal, tower-like, window-pierced peak with the bells rises in the middle. Below this is the altar , which completes the seven symbolic places.

The thematic stone sculptures were created by Helmut Lutz , the stained glass windows were designed by Alfred Riedel . The Crucifixus above the altar and the statue of Our Lady are old wood carvings. A Sator square is embedded in the floor .

In front of the chapel, a "celestial sphere" with evangelist and zodiac symbols and a hexagonal fountain form an additional ensemble of meaning.
