Henryi hepatica is a plant from the genus of the liverwort ( hepatica ) in the family of Ranunculaceae (Ranunculaceae). It occurs only in China and its Chinese name is 川 鄂 獐 耳 细辛.

description

The plants reach a height of 4 to 6 centimeters at flowering time and up to 12 centimeters when they fruit. The rhizome is about 2.5 inches long and about 3 millimeters in diameter. There are about 6 leaves. The leaf stalks are 4 to 12 inches long and densely hairy. The leaf blade measures 1.5 to 5.5 × 2 to 8.5 centimeters and is broadly ovate to rounded-kidney-shaped, shaggy hairy and balding over time. The leaf base is heart-shaped and inconspicuously three-lobed to divided up to the middle. The leaf margin is one or two teeth, the leaf end is pointed. The 1 or 2 shafts are semi-erect and hairy. The bracts measure 5 to 11 × 3 to 6 millimeters and are egg-shaped, finely hairy, entire or three-toothed and with a pointed end. The 6 sepals measure 8 to 12 × 3 to 5.5 millimeters and are obovate-oblong to narrowly elliptical and slightly hairy on the underside. The stamens are 2 to 3.5 millimeters in size, the anthers 0.5 millimeters. There are about 10 stamps . The ovaries are slightly hairy. The stylus are curved outwards.

The flowering period extends from April to May.

Occurrence

Hepatica henryi occurs in China in western Hubei, northern Hunan, Shaanxi and Sichuan . The species grows in forests and on grassy slopes at altitudes of 1300 to 2500 meters.

Systematics

Hepatica henryi was first described by Oliver as Anemone henryi in 1887 . In 1927 Steward placed the species in the genus Hepatica . A synonym is Hepatica yamatutae Nakai .
