Vegard Kaale (born April 28, 1961 in Oslo , Norway ) is a Norwegian diplomat.

Career

From 1980 to 1986 Kaale studied political science at the University of Oslo . He has a master's degree.

From 1987 to 1990 Kaale worked as an administrative officer in the Teledirektoratet . In 1990 he was a trainee at the European Union and in 1991 at EFTA in Geneva . From 1991 to 1998 Kaale worked as a consultant in the Department of European Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , from 1998 to 2001 as First Secretary at the Norwegian Embassy in Dublin ( Ireland ), from 2001 to 2005 as Deputy Director General in the Human Resources Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and from 2005 to 2008 as Minister Counselor at the Norwegian Embassy in The Hague ( Netherlands ). This was followed by the positions of Senior Advisor to the Far North, Climate and Energy Section (2008–2012), Policy Director of the Development Policy Section (2012–2014) and Director of the Energy Section (2014–2017) in the Foreign Ministry .

In 2017 Kaale succeeded Stig Traavik as Norwegian Ambassador to Indonesia , based in Jakarta . On June 21st, Kaale presented his second accreditation for East Timor to President Francisco Guterres .

Kaale's partner is Maria Antonia Mas Fons. He has two children.
