The Veischedetalbahn was a trolleybus route - at that time still called trackless railway - in the Sauerland . The route through the valley of the eponymous Veischede existed between May 29, 1904 and October 1, 1916, it was operated by the Elektrischer Kraftwagenbetrieb with overhead line for the Veischedetal GmbH zu Bilstein .
history
The railway was 8.0 kilometers long and led from Grevenbrück station over the then still independent fjord (merged with Grevenbrück in 1930), via Bonzel and via Bilstein to Kirchveischede , the end station was at the Gasthaus Jägerhof . In addition to passenger traffic , freight traffic with overhead line trucks was also carried out until December 1907 . The main customers were the cigar factories in Kirchveischede, they were supplied with raw tobacco. The Veischedetalbahn also carried mail . The two existing passenger cars were identical to the vehicles used on the Monheim – Langenfeld railroad .
The railway was operated according to the so-called Schiemann system , developed by the Saxon company Society for Trackless Railways Max Schiemann & Co. from Wurzen . Regardless of the route through the Veischede valley , Grevenbrück also had a pure overhead line truck operation without passenger transport from 1903 to 1907, the Grevenbrück Kalkbahn . Although both lines met at Grevenbrück station, the two lines were operated largely independently of each other.
The trackless depot was located off the actual route, in what is now the Trockenbrück district . It was located on the premises of the manufacturer Wilhelm Hüttenhein, who also operated the necessary power station there. To reach the depot, the train had to cross the Lenne bridge and turn onto today's federal road 55 in the direction of Elspe . After 280 meters, the car had to turn right again to reach the depot after another 100 meters.
