Local development

Entrance to the village on the B55 from Elspe

While most of the place names in the area of today's city of Lennestadt can be traced back to the appraisal registers (which were used to collect taxes) in the 16th century, the place name Trockenbrück, according to the local historian Joseph Boerger, was only used for the newly created settlement after 1820 Created above the Gräfenmühle in the Elspetal. In the area of the settlement there was therefore a wooden bridge over the Melbeckebach. When it was dry, the water of the brook seeped into caves in the sand-lime stone there, so that passers-by sometimes only noticed the bridge, but no water. For this reason the term "droige Brugge" or (in High German) "dry bridge" arose. In Boerger's view, this ultimately resulted in the place name Trockenbrück.

In the course of the busy federal road 55, Trockenbrück is characterized by commercial settlements in the areas of sheet metal and metal processing, car accessories, fast food restaurants, etc. In the area of the junction to Theten, the Theten - Grevenbrück industrial area joins. On the country road that turns from the main road to Melbecke, housing estates with a few handicraft businesses (stonemasons, painters) have mainly emerged (in partly hilly terrain).

At the end of June 2020, Trockenbrück had 245 inhabitants, with the proportion of senior citizens (over 65 years of age) at 20.8% being above the average for the city area (17.4%). Club life in Trockenbrück is shaped by the SV Trockenbrück e. Founded in 1957. V.
