Bonzelerhammer is a district of Lennestadt in the Olpe district and is located in the Veischedetal on the section of the B55 that leads from Bonzel to Bilstein .

While most place names in the area of the city of Lennestadt can be traced back to the 13th century and in some cases earlier, the place Bonzelerhammer came into being comparatively late. Decisive for the place name was the establishment of a hammer mill near the Bonzel settlement, which was attested early on .

The location of the company was favorable because with the inflow of the Veischede a sufficient amount of water was available to drive a water wheel with the connected drop hammer. The pig iron was processed into workable pieces with a drop hammer.

There are no references to the operation of a hammer as early as the 17th and 18th centuries. Verifiable sources are available from the early 19th century. In 1806, the hammer in Bonzel had to reimburse billing costs that had arisen in the Bilstein office due to the stay of French troops for the period from March to October. After the hammer mill had fallen into disrepair and ownership changed, the company came into the ownership of the Siegerland hammer forge family Fick in 1865. In 1871 the hammer mill employed 7 workers. At the turn of the century, operations were stopped. In the period that followed, other operators started producing asphalt slabs on the site, but discontinued it around 1910 due to inefficiency. A factory built in 1922 to manufacture tin toys also had to close in 1935.

In 1935 the Plettenberg businessman Egon Großhaus acquired the factory premises. The company, which is now run under the company name Egon Grosshaus GmbH & Co KG , deals with stamping, fine stamping and stamping and bending technology and has achieved an important position among suppliers to the automotive, electrical and mechanical engineering industries. With the development of the Grosshaus company, the town of 11 residents at the end of June 2020 gained a certain level of awareness.
