from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Veit Schiffmann (born December 3, 1958 in Vienna ) is an Austrian artist. He is the son of the astrologer Heinrich Philipp Schiffmann and the fashion designer Edith Andrea Schneiber.

From 1974 to 1978 he attended the graphic teaching and research institute in Vienna; then he studied from 1979 to 1980 at the University of Applied Arts with Oswald Oberhuber .

Act

The focus of Veit Schiffmann's work lies in his exploration of dreams . The artist takes the point of view that dreams represent a kind of nightly excursion by means of one's own dream body and that one can report about it as well as about the daily events while awake. His painting is made up of various dream elements, memories, sketches, mood sequences and symbols that lead back to the dream landscape as a motif base.

However, Veit Schiffmann strictly rejects the conventional interpretation of dreams or the various psychological interpretations. He is of the opinion that the world of dreams can be explored just as soberly and real as that of the waking world.

Quotes

Something really good is not-knowing, you are light and free and you are not afraid of flying.

When asked what I'm painting, I usually look embarrassed and have to admit that I can hardly explain it.
