history
VelocitySounds Rec. Was founded in Leipzig in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The name is derived from the English "Velocity", meaning speed, and is intended to show that the label is musically open.
Since the mid-1990s, the label founder Roland Bergner of VelocitySounds Rec. Appeared primarily as a booker and organizer . Years of intensive work brought him into contact with artists and their representatives in the form of labels and label employees.
In Leipzig around the year 2000, there were only limited structures for local artists with the help of which they could publish their form of culture and which made it possible to present and market their own publications nationally. Bergner wanted to address this shortcoming by creating its own structures.
The first releases of VelocitySounds Rec. Were brought onto the market as an independent label without further distribution structures. The first publication was the charity mix CD Diamonds are forever (Rolex / Booga) for the economic support of the anti-surveillance camera campaign at the Connewitzer Kreuz in Leipzig. After the label became a member of VUT (Association of Independent Music Companies eV) in 2002. The sub-label OFFTAKT Rec was created a year later. As a result of the slump in the sound carrier market, the company expanded in 2006 and founded VelocitySounds Musikverlag and VelocitySounds Artistbooking .
In 2008 the country album Dead Men On Holidays by the band of the same name from Berlin was released. In the same year VelocitySounds Rec. Released the first official The Sonic Boom Foundation album. The label now has more than 30 releases.
Schafe & Wölfe and The Sonic Boom Foundation are among the label's best-known artists .
