Cox and the Riot is a band from Leipzig that combines danceable indie rock with Britpop and alternative rock influences and is known in the indie scene for their energetic live shows. The band members themselves describe their style of music after their first album as "Death Disco".

history

The British - Canadian singer and guitarist Ian Cox was already musically active in his hometown of Northwich , Cheshire in England and as a street musician he played self-written songs.

Cox and the Riot was founded after Cox came to Leipzig from his home country. After the band had gained a larger audience at various band contests, they performed with well-known musicians and bands such as Phillip Boa , Movits! , Super700 or Royal Republic as opening act. Furthermore, in 2010 they played alongside artists such as Fantastischen Vier , the Editors , Jan Delay and Jennifer Rostock on the Sputnik Springbreak . Cox and the Riot have also been featured on television and radio, for example ZDF , MDR and MDR Sputnik used the band's songs in their programs.

In 2012, Cox and the Riot released their debut album Death Disco via Motor Music . In 2014 , the album White Lies followed through VelocitySounds Rec. , A sub-label of Motor Music .

With the help of a crowdfunding campaign , the band financed the professional production of their third album Wolves , which will be released in 2017, in 2016 , which is created in collaboration with Fabio Trentini , who already produced the Donots and Guano Apes .

style

While the debut album Death Disco could still be led under indie rock and dance punk , the second album White Lies added more influences from Britpop and alternative rock , but also new wave and even punk rock in the style of The Jam .
