Clara Luzia is the artist name of the Austrian singer-songwriter Clara Luzia Maria Priemer-Humpel (born June 1, 1978 in Oberretzbach , Lower Austria ) under which she also appears with her band.

Career

Alalie Lilt

In 1999, Clara Humpel founded the formation 'Alalie Lilt' together with her sister Veronika and Elisabeth Gettinger. By 2001 the trio grew into a sextet with Toni Holzreiter (drums), Jutta Sierlinger (violin) and Andrea Fränzl (bass). The band recorded their debut album Cyclopedia in 2002 , which was out of print soon after. In 2005, What Is Gone Doesn't Necessarily Disappear followed , which was released on an extra record . Alalie Lilt played her last concert at the fm5 festival in January 2006 together with Bauchklang , Roter Stern Silberstern and many others.

Clara Humpel left the band in order to devote herself entirely to her "solo project" Clara Luzia.

Clara Luzia made her debut in April 2006: Railroad Tracks . The label Asinella Records , founded especially by Humpel, celebrated its debut. Was produced Railroad tracks (as well as later albums The Long Memory and The Ground Below ) by Alexander Nefzger , who also for the production of André Heller , Chris Gelbmann found in 2006 a lot of praise from the critics and the Vienna songwriter Kempf.

In the first year of its existence in 2006, Clara Luzia and her band were able to open numerous concerts of their own as well as those of international greats such as Sophie Zelmani , Sarah Bettens , Badly Drawn Boy or The Frames . In 2007, their second work, The Long Memory, was released, which, with a little delay, was also published in Germany and Switzerland via the indie label below average . Her third album, The Ground Below , was released on April 16, 2009 and was presented at a sold out concert at WUK in Vienna . With the appearance of The Ground Below , Clara Luzia officially became a quintet, Mika Vember left the band to devote herself to her solo career. The fourth album, Falling Into Place , was released on April 15, 2011, the presentation took place again in the sold out WUK in Vienna. In the film documentary Oh Yeah, She Performs (2012) by Mirjam Unger , she was one of the four musicians portrayed. The fifth album We Are Fish was released on March 1st, 2013, the presentation took place again at the WUK in Vienna. The sixth album Here's to Nemesis , largely financed by a successful crowdfunding campaign and produced by Julian Simmons, was released on October 9, 2015 , on which Clara Luzia is accompanied by Cathi Priemer (drums, percussion) and PauT (bass).

In 2014, Clara Luzia and her drummer Cathi Priemer delivered the title song Sinnerman for Andreas Prochaska's award-winning film Das sinstere Tal . For the commissioned work Lavant! Clara Luzia wrote the music by Bernd Liepold-Mosser at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt and played it live with the band at the performances in October 2015.

Private

Her family runs the small Humpel winery in her home town.

On May 23, 2014 she entered into a registered partnership with the drummer Catharina Priemer.
