In 2011, Lemos was Chief of Staff to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health.

In the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2012 , Lemos took 39th place on the CNRT list. However , she did not succeed in entering the national parliament of East Timor . For this purpose, she was appointed to the new cabinet under Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão on August 8, 2012 . She became State Secretary for Support and Promotion of the Private Sector. With the government reshuffle on February 16, 2015, under the new Prime Minister Rui Maria de Araújo , Lemos received the new department “Support and socio-economic promotion of women”.

In the 2017 elections , she initially failed to make it into parliament at number 24 on the list, but on 5 September she moved up as a member of Júlio Tomás Pinto . When the VII government took office in 2017, Lemos left the cabinet. In Parliament, she became chair of the Ethics Commission (Commission G).

In the 2018 parliamentary elections , Lemos once again missed direct entry into parliament on list position 39 of the Aliança para Mudança e Progresso (AMP), the joint list of CNRT, PLP and KHUNTO . At the end of June, however, she moved to parliament for members of the parliament who constitutionally gave up their seat for government office. Martins is now a member of the Education, Health, Social Security and Gender Equality Commission (Commission F).
