Venla Lehtonen (born March 10, 1995 ) is a Finnish biathlete .

After Venla Lehtonen had only practiced cross-country skiing and biathlon at national level, she made her international debut on March 2, 2017 at the IBU Cup of the 2016/17 season in Kontiolahti , she finished individual, sprint and pursuit races outside of the points.

At the beginning of the 2017/18 season , she competed in the first races of the IBU Cup in Sjusjøen, Norway, and was then assigned to the World Cup team. Your first race of the World Cup was the sprint in Hochfilzen in Austria in mid-December 2017 . With five penalties she missed as 95th both the qualification for the pursuit race and the points. She had her first top 10 result in the World Cup at the beginning of January 2018 in Oberhof when she finished the relay race in 7th place overall as the starting runner together with Kaisa Mäkäräinen , Mari Laukkanen and Laura Toivanen . This was also the best result of a Finnish women's relay since 6th place at the 2003 Biathlon World Championships . She was nominated by the Finnish Biathlon Association to take part in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , in the sprint race she finished 79th with three shooting errors and - like her teammates Laukkanen and Toivanen - failed to qualify for the pursuit race.
