history
The Ventouris Sea Lines was founded in 1978 in Piraeus founded. The shipping company's first ship was the Captain Constantinos , which was commissioned in 1960 as Koningin Wilhelmina . In the following years, Ventouris Sea Lines expanded its fleet with further used ferries.
In 1995 Ventouris had to file for bankruptcy and sell several of its ships, but was able to resume ferry operations in 2004 after a break of almost ten years. In the last years of operation of the shipping company, the fleet consisted of only one ship, the Agios Georgios , which was commissioned as Hengist in 1972 and was already in service as Apollo Express 2 for Ventouris from 1993 to 1995 . After the ship was detained by the crew for unpaid wages, the Ventouris Sea Lines, which had run into financial difficulties, stopped ferry operations. An attempt to get the ship going again in 2015 under the new name Panagia Tinou failed. The Panagia Tinou sank in the port of Piraeus in April 2016.
Ventouris Sea Lines was part of the Ventouris Ferries shipping company, which was also founded in 1978 and is still active in ferry operations today.
