Venus makes Affair (original title: One Touch of Venus , released in Austria as the goddess of love ) is an American film from 1948, which was directed by William A. Seiter . The film is based on the musical One Touch of Venus based on the book by SJ Perelman and Ogden Nash .

Wealthy department store mogul Whitfield Savory II buys a statue of Venus for $ 200,000. He puts them up in his shop.

Shop window decorator Eddie Hatch gives the statue a kiss and brings it to life. Eddie is initially shocked and Venus leaves the shop. Eddie is then charged with theft. Nobody believes Eddie, and Venus shows up in Eddie's apartment. There he has to hide her from his girlfriend Gloria and his roommate Joe.

After Venus sings a love song, Joe falls in love with Gloria. Whitfield tries to keep going against Eddie, but he is distracted by realizing that he loves the secretary Molly. Venus is called back to Olympus by Jupiter , and Eddie initially remains alone until he meets a double of Venus.
