Vera Martínez Mehner

Vera Martínez Mehner (* 1978 in Madrid ) is a Spanish-German violinist and music teacher .

life and work

Vera Martínez Mehner was born in Madrid in 1978 as the daughter of a Spanish-German family. She studied violin with Zakhar Bron and Serguei Fatkouline at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid. She then completed in-depth studies at the Cologne University of Music under the direction of Zakhar Bron. She successfully completed her training here with the concert exam. At the same time she completed chamber music studies at the same music academy as a member of the Cuarteto Casals under the direction of the entire Alban Berg Quartet with the corresponding examination. Vera Martínez won, among other things, the first and the special prize for the best interpretation of the classical piece in the International Violin Competition Kloster Schöntal and a second prize at the International Competition Henryk Wieniawsky in Poland in 1995 .

As a soloist she has appeared with renowned orchestras in Europe and Central America under conductors such as Zubin Mehta , Yehudi Menuhin , James Judd , Victor Pablo , Daniel Harding and Paavo Järvi . She has often given concerts with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen . She gave piano-violin evenings with her brother Claudio Martínez Mehner .

Vera Martínez is a founding member of Cuarteto Casals, which has been performing successfully worldwide since 1997 . In this function she has recorded numerous recordings for the Harmonia Mundi label . As a member of the function chamber music ensemble , she devotes herself to the performance of new music .

Vera Martínez has been professor for chamber music and violin at the Escuela Superior de Música de Catalunya since 2003 . She is also a frequent visiting professor at music institutes in the United States and Europe.
