Vera Piller

Vera Piller (born Vera Kinz ; born December 31, 1949 in Wiesbaden ; † May 1983 in Switzerland) was a German-Swiss writer and singer. She is known as the «poet of the youth unrest of 1980 ».

Live and act

Piller moved to Zurich in 1968 , where she married the Swiss artist Dominique Piller . In 1979 Kaputtmacher AG Sons et Co appeared with photos of her husband, and in 1980 a volume with children's songs. She took part in a tour of the group «Holde und Unholde», which also includes the musicians Gudrun Racine, Erich Nussbaum, Burhan Öçal and the writer Werner Bucher , sang her children's songs and read her poems.

As editor of the literary magazine Orte , she compiled the themed issues “Women” ( Orte , 33) and “Knast” ( Orte , 37). In 1981 her radio play Goldfische was broadcast on Radio DRS and the play Künstler - aber wie Leben? was premiered in the Rote Fabrik in Zurich. In 1983 Vera Piller died of a cerebral infarction in her apartment .

In memory of Vera Piller, the "Vera Piller Poetry Prize" was awarded by the magazine Orte from 1984 to 1991 . In 2005, Im Sonnenausverkauf the best beam was published as the first volume of a planned complete edition by Orte-Verlag.
