Association of Pomeranian Ball Game Clubs

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Association of Pomeranian Ball Game Clubs (VPBV) was a local football association in the Pomeranian city of Szczecin , which was founded in 1905 and merged into the Baltic Lawn and Winter Sports Association in 1913.

founding

After the Szczecin Football Association and the Association of Szczecin Ball Game Clubs had failed after only a very short existence due to internal disputes or lack of interest, a new attempt was made on June 2, 1905 with the establishment of the Association of Pomeranian Ball Game Clubs. The founding members of the VPBV were: FC Titania 1902 Stettin , SC Preußen 1901 Stettin , SportVgg. Wacker 1904 Stettin, FC Adler 1903 Stettin and FC Stern Stettin. The 1st Association Day of the VPBV only took place on August 12, 1906 in Stettin.

development

The first championship was held in the 1905/06 season, probably with eight clubs. Since the reporting from Szczecin in the contemporary sports newspapers was notoriously bad, many information gaps remained.

The quarrels among the Szczecin clubs did not end in the new football association either. When the boundaries of the regional associations were determined in 1906 , Pomerania was given a dubious special status and was not assigned to any regional association.

In 1907 the VPBV joined the Association of Berliner Ballspielvereine (VBB) as a local branch in Stettin and remained a member there until 1911. The local championships continued to be organized independently. In order to settle the constant disputes within the association, a representative of the VBB had to act regularly as a mediator in Szczecin.

Soon after the merger of the three Berlin associations on April 29, 1911, the membership of the Szczecin associations in the VBB ended. Then an attempt was made to found a regional association of their own and to acquire areas from other associations, for example Mecklenburg of Northern Germany . Because of the well-known internal conflicts, this request met with scorn and ridicule. From 1911 to 1913, the Szczecin clubs were not part of any regional association and only held the local city championships. In 1913, the Association of Pomeranian Ball Game Clubs finally joined the Baltic Lawn and Winter Sports Association .
