Verena Keller (* 1942 in Schwerin ) is a German opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Keller, daughter of the Swiss opera singer Jakob Keller (1911–1992), studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and is a lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main and at the Mainz Conservatory . She has appeared at the Grand Théâtre de Genève , the Deutsche Oper Berlin , the State Opera Hamburg , the Opernhaus Düsseldorf , the Paris Opera , the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples and the Vancouver Opera .

Keller was awarded the 2002 Culture Promotion Prize for her opera workshop and took part in the documentary Opernfieber by Katharina Rupp (Hessian Film Prize 2005 as best documentary film). Her opera studio took place in 2015 in the Stadtcasino Basel .
