The Verge had different meanings as a measure. It was a measure of length and a measure of volume.

Length measure

It was a Belgian measure of length and was the same as the rod .

The Antwerp foot was 11 inches long, which corresponds to a length of 0.2868 meters and 127.137 Paris lines .

Volume measure

The verge was also a measure of volume with different sizes at the places of application. The French measure for brandy was the one in Montpellier

In Dutch, the measure Verje was written and was used as a measure of drinks.
