The Dannenberg loading station (Castor reloading station) is a loading station built for the transport of nuclear waste on the Lüneburg – Dannenberg railway near Dannenberg in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district . It is located one kilometer east of the Dannenberg-Ost train station . The Lüneburg-Dannenberg Ost line ends there.

In the hall there is a gantry crane with which transport containers for highly radioactive nuclear waste (e.g. Castor containers ) are reloaded from special rail freight wagons onto trucks . The reloading must be stopped from wind force seven. An anemometer is available to monitor them .

From the loading station, the low-loaders drive to the Gorleben nuclear waste interim storage facility about 20 kilometers southeast on country roads and through villages. The northern route of the transports leads via Quickborn , Kacherien , Langendorf , Grippel , Pretzetze and Laase to Gorleben, the southern route from Dannenberg via Splietau , Gusborn , Grippel, Pretzetze and Laase to Gorleben.

Since December 2014 the operator Erixx has taken over the passenger traffic between Lüneburg and Dannenberg Ost. Until December 2014, the railcars of Deutsche Bahn AG (class 628) were parked about 50 meters on the platform at night. Erixx parks the railcars in the loading station at night. After the last train arrives in Dannenberg Ost at 9.48 p.m., the railcar initially moves from track 1 to track 2, and then shunting to the loading station. The first train leaves Dannenberg at 6.11 a.m., the railcar is shunted from the loading station to the passenger station approx. 30 minutes beforehand.
