Publishing house Peter Engstler
The Peter Engstler publishing house is a small German publisher based in Oberwaldbehrungen in Bavaria. It was founded in 1987 by the bookseller Peter Engstler, who has been running it as a one-man business ever since. The publisher publishes contemporary poetry and experimental prose . Both are considered niche products on the book market.

Since it was founded, the publisher has published around 200 printed books in small editions, almost all of which are still available (as of 2017), including Rumbalotte Continua by Bert Papenfuß , Hauptwerk. Softsoftporn by Ann Cotten or a treatise on the decline by Ulf Stolterfoht . The text collage Swinging Benjamin by Helmut Salzinger from 1973 has been reissued here. By Wolfgang world , who died in 2016, moved Engstler whose last narrative fish soup . The books are calculated that waythat half of the circulation sold covers the production costs. The profit is invested in the next book.
The books are usually not designed in a complex manner. An exception is the long poem Zum Wasser wants all water wants away by Paulus Böhmer . Engstler had it printed in large format and with colored drawings on high-quality paper in an edition of 500 copies. It is one of the publisher's most expensive productions. The author was awarded the Peter Huchel Prize for the poem in 2015 . The publication of Boehmer's poetry trilogy Am Meer. On land. A few years earlier, Jan Volker Röhnert called me a "major publishing feat".
In the “Keiner Brehm” series, twelve narrow volumes were published, each with an essay on a different animal by Helmut Höge , who was honored with the 2014 Ben Witter Prize .
Engstler is shaped by the Beat Generation and the subcultures of the 1970s. His publishing program is also known as underground literature. In addition to German-speaking authors, he published the main work of Mary Beach The Electric Banana with an introduction by William S. Burroughs .
In 2009 he was awarded the Hunger Cloth Prize for literature for his own lyric work .
