Papenfuß learned the trade of electronics technician, sound and lighting technician. Since his publication options were restricted in the GDR, he performed his texts in the company of various rock and punk bands.
From 1994 he tried out the concept of the anarchist culture bar with the “Torpedo Beetle”, then from 1999 to 2009 he was co-operator of the Kaffee Burger , where he coordinated the cultural program Salon Brückenkopf . Since 2010 he has been running the Kulturspelunke Rumbalotte continua . This was on Metzer Strasse in Prenzlauer Berg in Berlin until September 2015 . Bert Papenfuß decided to close this location after increasing gentrification of the neighborhood.
