Verma is a village in Romsdal in Fylke Møre og Romsdal in Norway . The place belongs to the Rauma municipality . The inhabitants live mainly from agriculture and the timber trade .

location

Verma is located furthest south in Romsdal, where the valley rises towards Bjorli in Oppland . The valley is narrow and has steep slopes up to the mountain peaks. The name Verma means "warm".

Vermedalen is a tributary valley of the Rauma towards the northwest. The valley is crossed by the Verma River, which has a length of twelve kilometers. Its hydropower is used to generate electricity in the Verma power station.

Sandgrovbotnen is located in another side valley east of Verma. The mountainous area includes the Reinheimen National Park and forms a habitat for wild reindeer .

The climate is dry and hot in summer, so that the valley represents an east Norwegian type of nature. There are species-rich flower meadows and dry forests. There are several peasant huts that no longer exist on the mountains.

In winter the region is very snow reliable and is particularly suitable for ski tours.

The church in Øverdalen is the southernmost church in Romsdal.
