The Vernier Valley is an ice-free valley in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is located on the east side of Mount Blackwelder in the northeastern part of the Quartermain Mountains belonging Wilkins Mountains .
The New Zealand Geographic Board named it in 1992 after the English term for the vernier , a movable length scale to increase the accuracy of reading on measuring devices for lengths or angles.
