Mount Blackwelder is a pointed and mostly ice-free mountain in East Antarctic Victoria Land . With 2,340 meters it is one of the highest mountains of the Quartermain Mountains belonging Wilkniss Mountains . It rises west of the Vernier Valley and 10 km north of Pivot Peak .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it based on its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1947 to 1959. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1984 after Lieutenant Commander Billy G. Blackwelder (* 1937), helicopter pilot of the VXE squadron. 6 of the US Navy in Operation Deep Freeze between 1971 and 1972 and from 1975 to 1977.
