features

inflorescence

The different-leaved thousand-leaf is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches stature lengths of 30 to 250 centimeters. It grows as an underwater plant (hydrophyte). The leaf whorls are four to six fold. The shape of the leaf blades depends on the water temperature. At temperatures of 12 to 16 ° C pinnate leaves develop with 5 to 20 thread-like and more or less alternate sections, from 20 to 25 ° C undivided, serrated leaves develop. The annual inflorescence is 3 to 35 centimeters long.

Most of the flowers are hermaphroditic. They are found individually in the leaf axils of incised or toothed, shiny bracts in spike-like inflorescences . The bracts are much longer than the flowers. There are four stamens . The scars are red. The bracts are flat, lanceolate to oblong or obverse-shaped, entire or sharply serrated. The partial fruits are often two-edged and bumpy on the back.

The flowering period extends from June to September.
