The Insurance Company for Public Employees, Railways and Mining (BVAEB) is a statutory social insurance carrier of the Austrian social security system .
history
On January 1, 2020 was from the three formerly independent social security institutions servant insurance institution for public (BVA), Insurance Institute for railways and mining (VAEB) and the Health Insurance Fund of the Vienna Public Transport (BKKWVB) the insurance company public servants, railways and mining (BVAEB).

The BVAEB, as a self-administered social insurance agency by the insured, guarantees health, accident and pension insurance for more than 1.1 million insured throughout Austria. From child birth to old age, the BVAEB promotes the health of its policyholders through precautionary measures and preventive measures, enables curative treatment, therapies, and rehabilitation, and protects its policyholders through financial benefits in all situations.
In addition to service locations in all regional capitals, the BVAEB operates health facilities and outpatient clinics.
The group of insured persons includes:
- the public employees (officials) of the local authorities
- the contract employees of the local authorities who entered the service from 1999 (federal) or 2001 (federal states and municipalities)
- Holders of public state functions (politicians)
- the university staff
- the employees of the insurance company themselves
- Employee of the Wiener Linien
- all freelancers of the above
- Railway company employees
- Mining company employees
- all apprentices of the above
