Verstrahlt is a song by the German rapper Marteria in collaboration with Yasha . It was first released on August 13, 2010 and is included on Marteria's album Fortunately for the Future .

Content and radio boycott

In the first stanza, the first-person narrator complains about his petty-bourgeois, narrow-minded life. When he falls in love with a woman, it puts him in a state of euphoria in which he no longer perceives his everyday world and only lives in a dream world of love. He describes this condition with the words: "I am so beautifully irradiated". The eponymous word contaminated sale in the youth language as a synonym for "off the reality of life" (z. B. in drugs or love noise) and has therefore only in a metaphorical sense, with a radioactive contamination to be done by the euphoria was apparently triggered.

Despite this, the song was no longer played by various radio stations after the Fukushima nuclear disaster (2011). Apparently, many radio program managers feared a “bad aftertaste” due to the title. Marteria defended his track: “What happened in Japan is one of the greatest disasters ever. It's hard to put into words. But none of this has anything to do with the song, as it deals with a completely different topic. ”( Marteria ).

For the same reasons, the song Perfect Wave by the band Juli was banned from the radio after the devastating tsunamis on the shores of the Indian Ocean (2004).

criticism

Dani Fromm from laut.de said to Verstrahlt that it would be a feat to make a song with "wobbling synth sounds [...] appear machine-generated and invitingly fluffy at the same time". An author of head music thinks that the song would have created a timeless hit "that eats its way into the ear canal of everyone, regardless of rap lover or not, and that it doesn't get out of there so quickly" and that it is the first "Wow-experience" on his album would be.
