Test vehicle 1

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A test vehicle for high-speed traffic in Germany that was put into service in December 1979 is referred to as test vehicle 1 (VF 1, also test vehicle I , vehicle-track-dynamic-measuring vehicle ) . The non-powered measuring car completed test drives on the Munich-Freimann roller dynamometer and was used for test drives on the open track .

The main purpose of the vehicle was to gain knowledge about the interaction between the route and the vehicle at high speeds.

The results of the tests were incorporated into the development of the InterCityExperimental ICE forerunner, which went into service in 1985 .

history

The test vehicle was manufactured by a consortium of the companies Krupp Industrie- und Stahlbau , Krauss-Maffei , Friedrich Krupp Hüttenwerke , Krupp-MaK, MAN and Thyssen-Henschel and presented in Essen on December 19, 1979.

In 1980 the vehicle was used for "basic measurements" in the network of the Federal Railroad . It was later to be used on the Rheine – Freren railway test facility, which was then under construction . It was the first four-axle vehicle to be tested in April 1982 on the Munich-Freimann roll test stand at speeds of up to 500 km / h.

In addition to test vehicle 1 designed for 250 km / h , a three-part train designed as test vehicle 2 (also high-speed test vehicle ) with its own drive should reach speeds of up to 350 km / h. This later resulted in the previous ICE train InterCityExperimental .

construction

The yellow vehicle with a blue roof had three bogies , one at each end and one in the middle of the vehicle. The middle running gear served as a test running gear, with both a single and a two-axle variant being available.
