Vertellus Specialties is an American chemical company that claims to be the world's leading manufacturer of pyridine and picolines . In May 2016, the company filed for bankruptcy protection after American Bankruptcy Law ( Chapter 11 ) on.
Vertellus also manufactures niacin (vitamin B3), DEET , sulfones , EMA copolymers, alkenyl succinic anhydride, castor oil derivatives, cetylpyridinium chloride , sodium borohydride and trimethyl borate .
The company was formed in 2006 through the merger of Reilly Industries and Rutherford Chemicals. In December 2007, the acquired private equity -Gesellschaft Wind Point Partners Vertellus. In 2014 the Pentagon Chemicals Company from Great Britain and in 2015 the sodium borohydride business from Dow Chemical was taken over.
