The Bernsdorf administrative community was an administrative community in the Free State of Saxony in the Bautzen district . It was in the northwest of the district, about 11 km north of the city of Kamenz and 18 km southwest of Hoyerswerda . The community area, with the city of Bernsdorf in the middle, was located in an extensive forest area on the extreme western edge of the Upper Lusatian heath and pond landscape . In the former community area, the traces of the former lignite mining cannot be overlooked. The federal highway 97 runs through the community area .

The administrative community was founded in April 1994 and dissolved on January 1, 2012 after Wiednitz, the last remaining municipality, was incorporated into Bernsdorf.
