The administrative community was founded on June 1, 1991. Sonneborn was recorded on May 12, 1995. The dissolution took place on January 1, 1997, when the communities of Brüheim, Friedrichswerth, Haina and Sonneborn joined the administrative community of Mittleres Nessetal and the communities of Ebenheim and Weingarten joined the administrative community of Hörsel .
