The administrative community Emsetal was in the Thuringian Wartburg district . It was named after the valley of the Emse .

The administrative community was founded on September 17, 1991. It was dissolved on December 31, 1995. With effect from January 1, 1996, the member communities merged to form the new Emsetal community.
